Hi Guys

Unfortunately I will be working this Friday so wont be down at Explorers. Ross however have kindly agreed to run the evening for me, he’ll be going through the gear required for the auchengillan camp as well as having a pure dead brilliant programme planned for you all.

Explorer Scout Pandemonium Camp


Explorer Scout -Pandemonium.
7th - 9th October 2011
Auchengillan Outdoor Centre

What?
Pandemonium is an Explorer Scout event ran by Clyde Region. The camp has been organised to allow all Explorers and Leaders in Clyde Region to camp, share ideas, join in activities, take part in a night challenge and opt in for modules.

The modules available to opt in are:
• Explorer / Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
• Young Leaders Scheme
• Module A
• Basic First Aid training

Cost:


The cost of the weekend is £35 per person (£30 if you book your place by 19th August). This includes Saturday BBQ dinner, camp fees, activities and modules. Places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
Activities:
The activities during the day will be a selection of on site Auchengillan activities. Please watch this page for more up-to-date information.

Camping:


As the camp is under canvas everyone will need to bring their own lightweight tents, sleeping bags etc.

Programme:

• The weekend will begin with a themed Disco/Karaoke on the Friday night, after you have set-up camp.

• Saturday will see a range of joint activities and opt in modules followed by a barbecue and Team Challenge hike (ran by the Hills Team)

• After a long lie on Sunday Morning, it’s time for Messy Games, played in teams whilst been covered in flour etc. There will be a winning prise for the winning team. Remember to bring a change of clothes.


• Before everyone departs on Sunday afternoon, there will be an Explorer Belt presentation and the launch of Clyde’s Explorer Belt


• The camp will finish around 2:30pm on the Sunday.
Leaders are encouraged to attend the event to share ideas and are welcome to attend modules during the day to take back and run locally. We will require the support of as many leaders as possible to make the event as great as it can be. The Staff fee for all leaders will be £15 each. A form is enclosed with the booklet for anyone who can help out.

As the Saturday BBQ is the only meal being provided, remember to bring food and equipment. Why don’t you try to organise your food at District level. This will allow you to meet fellow local Explorer Scouts who you would otherwise might not meet.

Upcoming Events

As you will all no doubt be aware there are quite a mumber of events coming up soon:-

I realise that am asking for a lot of money all at the one time, the Auchengillan Camp & RAF Leuchars money has to be in for the due of 17 June 2011 as this is the last day of Scouts.


However as the Explorer Scout Unit will continue to run throughout the summer months i am happy to allow more time for the Capitation Money.


Even with that extension I realise it's still a lot of money at short notice if you have any questions or queries please don't hesitate to contact me at stephen_docherty@htomail.com or pop into the den on a Friday night.

Auchengillan Walk & Camp

On Saturday 9 July 2011 the Capie Scouts & ESU will be walking the first section of the west highland way (Milngavie to Carbeth - 5 miles) followed by an overnight stay (under canvas) at Auchengillan Outdoor Centre. This is a great opportunity to practice all your scouting skills learned over the last couple of camps - such as Bivvi Making & Backwoods Cooking.

The cost of the camp will be £15pp (to be paid by the 17 June 2011).

Important Meeting Times:-

Meeting at Queen Street Station at 8:45 Saturday 9th July.

Returning to Scout Hall at 18:00 on Sunday 10th July.

Waterproof Clothing and Strong walking Boots or Shoes are required for the walk!

Transport
If anyone is able to help out with transport home on the Sunday afternoon please make yourself known to myself or any of the scouters - your help would be greatly appreciated!

RAF Leuchars Airshow

Hi Guys

Following last year's visit which was a great success and enjoyed by all - we will be going to visit RAF Leuchars Airshow on Saturday 10TH September 2011.

The Event starts at 10am until 6pm so we will be leaving Glasgow Queen Street sharp at 7:30am (in order to get to the event in plenty of time).

As with last year there will be an array of flying dispays throughtout the day by various planes,jets, and older aircarft aswell as different stalls & events that we can participate in.

Simon has set the price at £35.00pp, now this may seem steep for a day trip but this is to cover your entry ticket & travel to a from the event. Any excess money will be given directly back to you guys.

All monies are to be paid by Friday 17th June - s the Scout Troop will finish up for summer then.

Riverside Museum Preview!!!

As you may of herd the new Riverside Museum is due to open to the
Public on Tuesday 21st June. The 30th Scout Group have been invited to
a private preview this Saturday 4th June between 10am and 12 noon.

This is open to all members of the 30th, please e-mail Stewart at

with your name and how many of your family are coming with you ASAP.

You must wear your uniform and arrive between 10 and 10.30am
