30TH Glasgow Facebook Group

Hi All

If your not already a member feel free to get yourself signed up to the 30TH Glasgow Scout Group Facebook Page!

The page will keep you in contact with all current, past members and friends of the 30th Glasgow Scout Group as well as all the up and coming events.

As the Facebook Group is for Member's and freinds of the 30TH the group is "Closed"(Limited public content. Members can see all content). You'll have to send a friend request and one of the team will get back to you.

Lazer Tag

Hi All

Next week The Explorers (&Scouts) will be going to Lazer Tag in Clydebank (25 John Knox St, Clydebank, G41 4HY). We are meeting at the hall @ 18:30 Sharp! The cost of the Lazer Tag will cost £6 per person for 2 games. 

If any of your parents are able to help out with transport please let me know.

All you have to do is take a picture of you and your creation and
bring it down on Friday!

Investiture & Uniforms

Hi Guys

I hope you all enjoyed last weekends camp to Lochearhead. I'll be looking for feedback and any idea ideas you guys have for future camps?

I’m also going to be investing you all this Friday – which will required you all in Full Uniform!

Uniforms have fallen from the wayside lately & I’d like to sort that. You should be wearing your full uniform at the start of every troop night (unless otherwise stated).I’ll put up coat hooks in the den so you can leave your shirts their.

Bellow is a list of you uniform


Shirt -Explorer Scout Shirt (beige long sleeved)

Blouse- Explorer Scout Blouse (beige long sleeved)

Neckie -Troop Neckie – 30TH Glasgow Scout Troop

Trousers- Explorer Scout Activity trousers, or smart Black Trousers i.e

Skirt -Explorer Scout Skirt, or smart Black Skirt.

Belt -Scout Belt.

Footwear -Black Shoes or Boots.

Lochearnhead Scout Station

Hi Guys

Firstly apologies for the short notice of this camp (i was under the impression that you were all given full details of the camp a couple of weeks ago! My Bad.

So here's the details of camp in short

Location Lochearnhead Scout Station (INDOORS)

Date 5-7 November 2010
Departing-Scout Hall Friday 18:30
Returning-Scout Hall Sunday 16:00/16:30
(As always if there is any delay with traffic etc. we'll let your parents know.)
Cost Total £47 (including your deposit money)

As well as your standard kit list I'll expect full Uniforms! Any questions about kit list please just ask.

If you have one please bring a bike with you. If you need a loan of a bike or have a spare please let Stewart know on Friday.

Explorer Activity Badges

Ive had a wee look at the Explorer Scout Activity Badges. The only Activity Badges that can be transferred from your old Scout Shirt to your Explorer Shirt are the "Staged Activity Badges" shown bellow:-

Back to the Future......Again

Hi Guys

Sorry about the short notice but the info on the cinema times etc was only made available late last night!

As planned we are going to see Back to the Future this Friday (1ST October). We will be meeting @ the Scout Hall @ 07:30.

Cost of Film will be £5.20 each - plus any additional money you want for sweets/drinks.

The film doesn't start till 8:30 so it'll be about 10:30/11:00 return time to the hall.

As always (Tunes) please pass this onto anyone who might not get this.

No Explorers Next Week !

Hi Guys

Please note there will be no Explorers next week 20/08/2010!

However as we talked about last Friday we'll be trying to get round various attractions in Xscape such as BOWLPLEX, FANDROP, LASER STATION, PARADISE ISLAND ADVENTURE GOLF, ROCK CLIMBING, SKYPARK & THE SNO!ZONE!

Keep your eyes on the Blog for further updates as we'll be having a outing to one of the above on the 27/08/2010.

Additionally if anyone hasn't return there essential information form - please bring it along on the 27/08/2010.

Explorers Summer Break & Etive Camp

Hi Guys

As most of you will know am going climbing in the Alps for the next couple of weeks including ascent of Pollux (4098m) by NW Ridge, Traverse of Alphubel (4208m) via SE Ridge, and also a Traverse of Mont Blanc - so there will be no Explorers (though feel free to meet up amongst yourself).

Explorers will start back on the 30 August 2010.

I have posted you all out a letter with details of the forthcoming camp to Glen Etive(07/08/10-08/08/10)along with a permission slip.

Painting The Den

Remember we will be painting the Den tomorrow night, so no need for uniforms just WEAR OLD CLOTHES (that you don't mind getting covered in paint).

Necropolis Tour

Hi Guys

Just a wee reminder of the Tour this Friday - bellow is a copy of the letter:-

On Friday the 14 May the Capie Scout Troop and Explorer Scout Unit will be going to the Glasgow Necropolis for a bespoke tour. The meeting point will be at the Gatehouse which is just inside the main gates into the Necropolis at Cathedral Square @ 6.20pm.



The tour will last for about 2hr 15min please arrange to collect your child at the Gatehouse at 8.45pm.



Uniforms and a strong walking boots or shoes are required!
